Chris Balme: Finding the Magic in Middle School
October 6, 2026 from 6:15 - 7:45 P.M.
We are very lucky to have Chris Balme returning to us this fall! Chris is an education leader, writer, and school founder, passionate about helping young people discover more of their human potential. He is a best selling author (Finding the Magic in Middle School) and one of the only academics to dedicate their life’s work to understanding adolescent humans. If you have a middle schooler or will have a middle schooler someday soon this parent/guardian ed event is not to be missed. This event is open to the whole community, and we look forward to welcoming parents and guardians to campus!

Ages & Stages with Jennifer Arnest | November 12
November 12th. We are very excited to welcome back Jennifer Arnest to The Healdsburg School!
Jennifer Arnest is a longtime educator and school leader with more than 30 years of experience in independent education. She currently serves as Assistant Head of School for Lower School, Teaching and Learning at The Seven Hills School, where she works closely with students, teachers, and families to foster meaningful, whole-child learning experiences.
Jennifer previously served as the Founding Lower School Head at San Francisco Friends School, helping shape and lead the Lower School program for more than a decade. Her work is grounded in a deep belief in childhood, curiosity, imagination, and the importance of giving children space to develop as thoughtful, capable, and compassionate people.
A frequent writer and speaker on childhood, education, and parenting, Jennifer has shared her perspective through publications including Friends Journal. She was also recently selected as a 2026–27 Leadership+Design Fellow, joining a national cohort of education leaders focused on design thinking, innovation, and positive change in education.
