The philosophy of The Healdsburg School is based on the beliefs that:

Our carefully constructed Kindergarten program focuses on the whole child, academically, socially, emotionally, physically , and culturally, fostering development not just in the classroom but also through other means of learning. The Reggio Emelia approach to teaching Kindergarteners puts the natural development of children as well as the close relationships that they share with their environment at the center of its philosophy.
Employing best practices based on most current scientific and educational research, these remarkable Kindergarten and primary teachers touch hearts as well as minds. They provide a safe, nurturing and caring environment, creating a relevant, integrated, and engaging global perspective learning framework for all children. Project-based curriculum engages children in centers of math, science, literature, writing, and history, cultural and physical geography. Enhanced by exposure to second languages of Spanish and Mandarin, and infused by art, music, drama the children are led to make connections to the real world and express meaning through various media. In addition, community and global service learning programs begin in Kindergarten at THS, allowing children to use what they know in a caring way.
